I want to give a shout out to my friend Sara, for some great ideas, my wife, Amanda, for her usual insight, and my friend Jon, for pushing me to write something. If that bothers you, go watch Hallmark Channel or something. And I will use clinical names for body parts when appropriate. Which is fine, and definitely a good thing. It will do my heart good to think that many have no idea who Douglas Phillips is and why he matters.
For those of us who grew up in the homeschool movement, and spent at least a little time in the Christian Patriarchy Movement, this is significant news.

The Ever-Loving Truth addresses the cost of being a twenty-first century Christian in a world quickly running away from the concept of absolute truth much less the knowledge and wisdom of truth. But the unchanging truth of God’s Word still holds preeminence in relevance and answers to contemporary life issues. The Ever-Loving Truth shows how committed Christians in society today-just like the New Testament writers, Peter and John-can, as followers of Christ, stand humbly but boldly in the marketplace of ideas and proclaim the truth to a culture void of everlasting answers.
In The Ever-Loving Truth, this powerful preacher and teacher addresses the cost of being a twenty-first century Christian and helps adults apply the unchanging truth of God’s Word to contemporary life issues. It was an amazing time of encouragement with other Christian parents — most of whom are devoted to homeschooling and home-training their children to be godly men and women, prepared to take on the world with a multi-generational vision. But these men who spoke to us used the Scriptures, and their lives and the lives of their children are a testament to their integrity and boldness on these topics. Their words motivate me to continue to raise my children in a radical, counter-culture, God-fearing way.
But if these principles are truly laid out by God — who never changes 1 Samuel
The model they set out for a biblical dating culture is radical in contrast with what our normal Christian dating culture looks like in the West these days. A few weeks ago, my daughter had to be hospitalized for a severe case of dehydration after coming down with the common stomach bug. It was a rare case of extreme dehydration that came on fairly quickly. As I stayed home on Saturday evening with the other three children, my wife took our youngest daughter Kalli to the hospital. We expected her to receive fluids and then be released.

This event prompted the Protestant Reformation, through which great swathes of Christendom were turned back to the gospel of grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Martin Luther married Katharina von Bora in June and although far less is known of her life in comparison to her husband, she has much to teach us today about how to live as a Christian woman. Katharina or “Katie” as Luther called her, was born in to a family of poor Saxon nobles. Her mother died when she was just a girl and she was sent by her father to live in a convent at the age of 5.
She spent her childhood here and at the age of 16, she took her vows and became a nun. Even in the convent, Katie heard of Luther and his teachings and she and several others determined to leave their life as nuns. Luther himself heard of their desire to escape and he arranged for a merchant friend of his to transport them out of the convent in his wagon, apparently in empty fish barrels!
Luther arranged marriages or employment for all the escapees except Katie, and finally married her himself in Her skillful management of the various animal holdings, vegetable garden, orchard and brewery allowed her to provide for the family and she rose at 4 am each morning to attend to her duties, earning her the nickname “the morning star of Wittenberg”. She and Martin had six children of their own and they also raised four orphan children.
She provided hospitality for the numerous students who stayed with them and for the many visitors looking to consult with her husband. She was no stranger to sorrow as two of her daughters died, one aged 8 months and another at 13 years of age. She outlived Luther by six years and after his death, was forced to flee Wittenberg with her family due to the outbreak of war. After returning to Wittenberg in , she was force to leave again in due to an outbreak of the Plague, and during her journey to Torgau she was involved in an accident which left her badly injured.

Considered to be one of the finest statesmen and perhaps the greatest patriot the United States has ever seen, Adams himself stated that he could not have accomplished all that he did apart from the partnership he enjoyed with his wife. Though Abigail died several years before their son, John Quincy Adams, became president of the United States, John lived to enjoy that moment of parenting success. After the inauguration, someone approached John Adams and commented that certainly he must have been quite proud of his son and remarked that he must have had tremendous influence over his life and education.
Let me explain my concerns: There is no biblical precedence that discipleship of children is the sole responsibility of fathers. In fact, we see both commands in Scripture to the contrary as well as praiseworthy examples of mothers spiritually training sons. Eunice and Lois, the grandmother and mother of Timothy, were praised for having raised this outstanding young pastor in the faith since his own father was not a believer. And we cannot forget that Proverbs 31 is instruction that was given by a mother to her son, King Lemuel, as she admonished him how to find a godly wife.
Are fathers to disciple their children? Are mothers to do so as well. Of course we are.

The idea of a married couple celebrating 50 years of marriage is a beautiful thing. My disdain is for the Greco-Roman myth that equates love with feelings. As Voddie Baucham states: It is fantastic and well worth the 15 minutes of your time. My disdain for valentines day led me to ask:

As a blogger, I may be compensated in some way either pay, product, or experience for sharing the post below All opinions are my own. But which qualities, specifically, should they be looking for? What will you say when that certain young man sits down in your living room, sweaty-palmed and tongue-tied, and asks your permission to marry your daughter? What criteria should he meet before the two of them join together for life?
Author Voddie Baucham follows up on his popular book Family Driven Faith with this compelling apologetic of biblical manhood. By studying the principles outlined in his book, parents who want their daughter to marry a godly man—as well as those who want their sons to become godly men—will be well equipped to help their children look for and develop these God-honoring qualities.

One talk of his in particular certainly spoke to this issue as well as refuting laziness and commenting on the primacy of the family. In a Disney program, called the Proud Family, specifically the episode called Rumours, Oscar Proud the father of Penny Proud, the main character in one episode, allowed Penny and her friends to have the house to themselves but with one rule which he repeated three times Trudy Proud his wife mentioned other rules but Oscar recited in between Trudy’s rules the statement “No Boys”.
Naturally Penny’s friends didn’t take this onboard and Penny caved in and they invited the boys round. Penny was left with one boy named Myron who was a a nerd to put it lightly and she was shut in the cupboard with him.

This past week, we concluded our preaching series on biblical courtship. The goal was to help parents and grandparents with biblical truth and helpful resources on how to equip your children for the process of finding a spouse. We live in a confused world of compromise. Marriage has been redefined, maligned, and abused. Divorce is celebrated and expected. This may seem overly protective or an ancient practice, but as I stated in my sermon, the recreational dating methods are relatively new in terms of human history.
The recreational dating routine became popularized sometime over the last years.
